Softer cheese are much healthier than solid cheeses since they contain less fat. You’ll get 15 grams of protein for each half cup of cottage cheese that you use. If you decide not to use it in a smoothie, it also makes a great snack! Pair it with fruit like strawberries or pineapple for a filling snack. Peanut butter. Who doesn’t love peanut butter? Any nut butter will contain a decent amount of protein per serving – around 8-10 grams. Not only that, nut butters contain healthy fats which improve heart and brain health. A great smoothie combination is peanut butter, banana and almond milk. Oats. Adding in oatmeal will create a thick, filling smoothie. Did you know a serving of oatmeal equates to about 10 grams of protein? A smoothie with oatmeal would be the perfect post-workout shake; it will replenish your body with both carbohydrates and protein. Spinach. If you have never tried a green smoothie, you should start. Adding in vegetables will increase your daily vegetable intake and provide many nutritional benefits. A good starter vegetable is spinach, which contains 6 grams of protein per one cup. Mix it with fruits like apples, bananas or berries and you won’t even taste the spinach. Don’t be afraid of the green color, it’s delicious! Smoothies are a great way to increase your servings of fruits and vegetables, but also the perfect snack or post-workout meal.
